History of Team Oakwood Boys

Team Oakwood Boys (Team OB Airsoft Team) was formed after the Oakwood mutiny (which occurred on July 27, 2003 when a group of 321 armed soldiers who called themselves "Bagong Katipuneros" led by Army Capt. Gerardo Gambala and Lt. Antonio Trillanes IV of the Philippine Navy took over the Oakwood Premier Ayala Center -now Ascott Makati.

Pioneer elders Danny Talusan (Ric Jason), Jay Girang (Genmc), Raul Tan (Ulracks), Elmer Reynoso (Merbites), Winston Guinto (Shogun), Butch Aragones (Invictus), Paul Hernandez (Poz), Genmc's son - Kraig Girang (Shadowarrior) and Ric Jason's son - Daniel Talusan (Newbie Lord) and call center boys (chard, louie, victor, noel and others, lewdskywalker and doc mel - who are now inactive), ) decided to adopt this infamous event and the want of these soldiers for changes in the government. Oakwood Boys’ vision was to make changes in playing airsoft games by organizing events/games with better rules and regulations to improve the sport.

Team OB was formed in April 2004 with its main headquarters in AGL’s gamesite popularly known as Last Castle in Pasig. They began the changes they have envisioned when they opened Pugad Lawin 1 (UP Diliman Arboretum) in April 2005. The team improved game marshalling and began spreading camaraderie with other teams they had previously played with in other airsoft gamesites and other teams/players who came and played at Pugad Lawin 1.

The team likewise visited other gamesites and joined out of town games and competitions wherein Team OB garnered championships and placements.

Competitions and Trophies:

OP Full Circle 2 Competition - Champion (with 1SD - Socom, Mobydix and 101st), April 2006, OP Mountain Eagle 1 Competition, 4MBDE Marine Base, Ternate Cavite - Champion Team (with Mama Sitas), Sept. 2006,

Pugad Lawin 2 and 3 (Jungle Sites) and Alcatraz (CQB Site) were opened in 2006 and 2007 thru the assistance of elders Mike Dilangalen and Nap Quinones. OB had since then continuously upheld their vision of fair play with other teams and players despite the intense and rigorous games that Team OB had subjected them to every weekend and competitions OB had hosted.

Team OB had grown since then, from nine original members to a membership of more than 100 players (active and inactive) and due to this, a better organization had to be implemented. Quarterly General Assemblies/meetings are now being held to update the members of the team’s activities and plans under the able leadership of an elected Team President (Ojie Santillan) in 2007.

OB currently is also no longer just an airsoft team but had matured as a socio-civic organization when they joined a Tree Planting project in Ipo Dam in June 2007 - in coordination with the local government of Norzagaray, Bulacan and MWSS, and will continuously do so in the next four years.

The team further expanded with the formation of Team OB Dumaguete under the supervision of Allan Flores and his team mates.

OB Dumaguete was formally inducted to last January 26, 2007 in Miagao, Iloilo.

The most recent expansion was the formation of Team OB – Miagao (Iloilo) who enjoyed the company and friendliness of Team OB Manila during their brief stay (four days) in Iloilo and decided they want to be a part of Oakwood Boys.

Team Oakwood Boys looking forward …. endeavors to continue furthering their objectives as envisioned….
